Refinery Wastewater Treatment

The project is owned by the China Petrochemical Corporation. The wastewater produced from the oil refining processes are be collected in an equalization tank with oil collecting devices at the top of the tank; then a screw pump will pump the wastewater into an oil/water separator, the oil flows through the lipophilic cross-flow media to be collected. Then PAC and PAM is be added into the wastewater before it enters the CAF to remove small particles, floating and some emulsified oil. PAM is be added on the effluent of CAF as the wastewater flows into a DAF unit for further oil removal. The effluent from the DAF enters a MBR reaction tank where the activated sludge degrades the pollutants and the submerged ultra-filtration membrane separates the sludge from the water. The effluent treated wastewater can then be discharged or reused. The residual sludge in the MBR tank is wasted and compressed through a centrifuge.

The CAF unit is the key process in this treatment system as it focuses on removing oil from the wastewater. The influent wastewater before entering the CAF is 100mg/L, the CAF treated effluent is 30mg/l, where the oil removal rate is up to 70%.

The wastewater treatment plant is now operating and has reached the design requirements.
